Mother’s Day

This picture hangs in my home, to remind me that no matter what happens, no matter what life circumstances or current events, these 3 are my North stars. When I found myself a single mother without warning or desire, and was so devastated by the circumstances of my divorce that every breath hurt, I kept going for them. In the middle of that nightmare, my very dear friend insisted on doing a photo shoot of me and the kids. To document and preserve my “new” family, however broken and battle weary. Not long after, my family changed shape again, and more laughter and love than ever joined us. But this? This is my mama lion and her 3 cubs picture. I fought for them when I couldn’t find the strength to fight for myself.
